Xi'an's city walls

Xi'an is one of the few cities to retain its ancient city walls. These date from the Tang Dynasty about 1500 years ago, but were upgraded in the current style during the Ming Dynasty about 600 years back. They stretch 14kms around the centre of town, and you can ride a bike or walk around the top of them.

Xi'an stands roughly where China's first imperial capital, founded by the Emperor Qin, lay some 2000 years ago. Now, two things to help you with that sentence.
