Stone Foundation at Saqsayhuaman

These stones, many times my height, were quarried, carved, and carried 2 miles to the site by hand. The Inca considered those that died during the transportation of the stones as honorable offerings to the gods and left them where they lay.
Peru Day 5: Cusco Redux

Today was a free day with an available option to visit nearby ruins in Cusco during the morning. I opted for the ruins which included a visit to Saqsayhuaman, Q'enqo, and Tambomachay.
