Large Goanna, Uluru

This lovely goanna was sunning itself on a rock just near the teaching caves on the Mala Walk at Uluru. He's about a metre long, allowing for the hidden tail. Check out those claws!

The weather forecast for today was 37 C so we set the alarm for 7am to give us an earlier start and get more of the walking around Uluru done before it got too hot. That was the plan, anyway.
