Remote, Touristy Uyuni Yikes--I had only five days left on my Bolivian visa! Time to leave La Paz, Bolivia's capital (the highest in the world) and head to remote Uyuni for a tour of one of the country's highlights--the Salar de Uyuni. Ah, visas!
It was so great in the south of South America because I could stay three months in Argentina, then hop across the Andes or a river, get a stamp, stay awhile and return for another three months. In Bolivia, it was three months in a year--not enough! But I did find a lot of good books in exchanges, and it was great to live like a queen for awhile.
