Inside this museum I learnt that the Spanish arrived in Colombia in 1500 and 75 years of fighting followed. There were some beautiful examples of the gold jewellery the Tayrona people made in one of the exhibits.

The city of Santa Marta, situated on the shores of the Caribbean, was founded in 1525. It is also where Simon Bolivar died in 1830.
