Old State House, Boston Freedom Trail
"Here the child Independence was born". Built in 1713 it is the oldest public building in the eastern US. In front of the building is the site of the Boston Massacre which took place in March 1770, when British troops fired on a crowd of Boston citizens. The death of Crispus Attucks and 4 other Bostonians helped spark the revolution. In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read from its balcony.
