Chapter 4 - DAY 7 - Vienna to Zagreb September 13th 2011 EASTERN EUROPE AWAITS
We left Vienna and headed south for Slovenia and our first taste of the formerly communist Eastern Europe. Slovenia was the first of the Balkan states to become independent, it is in the north close to Austria and independence was achieved without widespread bloodshed. We are new to travelling and new to blogging. The kids are off our hands and the mortgage is under control so we're celebrating doing the hard yards - and surviving them by heading off on our Big OE (about 30 years late)! We leave Wellington New Zealand on 23 July and will spend 3 months exploring UK/Europe,a mixture of organised tours and independent travel.
