The Richmond - Lynchburg Stage Road

This is the road upon which Lee had hoped to retreat to join with Johnston's forces in North Carolina but it was blocked by Union Forces. It was also the road upon which Grant Rode into appomattox Court House to accept the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia.

June 1st Wednesday Appomattox Court House to Fredericksburg. Virginia Morning: Up early this morning according to plan. I will head over to the MacDonald's and then out to the Surrender site outside of town. I need to get out there and tour it before it gets too hot.
