This photo was taken at the "hatching center". Several introduced species (dogs, goats, etc) are voracious predators of eggs and tender young tortoise babies.
My Birthday Extravaganza!!

It all started in Banos, on my actual birthday, February 15th. Since Facebook publishes birthdates, I received bday greetings and wishes from dozens of friends (some I hadn't heard from in years and years) and even from a few acquaintances I barely know!
