Escaped from Delhi's heat and expense and took the trains up to Shimla - the toy train from Kalka winds up the steep hillsides - scary and very, very scenic. Shimla is somewhere south of the Hymalayas and is 21,000 ft above sea-level, so plenty high enough for us! Bought jeans, trainers and waterproofs as the weather was cold and very wet due to the monsoon. Shimla has only three months of ra ... read more
