Milford Sound So we left Queenstown on a very dreary looking day (Friday April 23rd) to head for Milford Sound where we hoped the weather was better so we could actually see it. Actually a big fiord (as opposed to a sound, don't ask me the difference), Milford Sound is one of NZ's biggest attractions, however most visitors would obviously be there in the peak summer season.
