After leaving Ayers Rock I spent the best part of two hours peering down from 35,000 feet on the barren expanse that is Australia's 'outback'. As we closed the door to the ambulance station, our shift came to a somewhat anticlimactic end. No big send off, no tearful farewells, in fact, no bugger all. But that was how we’d wanted it, choosing not to have a leaving party because, lets face it, we weren’t really leaving.
