Little Salesman

The literacy rate in Cambodia is 70%. Most of the kids who were selling things would go to school and sell things after school. They had some very clever tactics. One little girl asked me where I was from. When I said "America" she was off. "I know your President, Mr. Bush." I laughed and said "Yes, that's right." She asked if I voted for Bush. When I said "No" she said quick as a whip, "Me neither I vote for John Kerry." I just died laughing. Not exactly what you'd expect from a kid on a street in Cambodia selling straw bangles.

We came to Siem Reap, Cambodia to see Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. Over a period of 300 years, between 900 and 1200 AD, the Khmer empire produced some of the world's most amazing temples.
