The Iglesia in the Lava
The two towers are all that remain of the two towns that were destroyed by the volcano. The one tower was not completed at the time of the distruction.

Guanajuato is a city of narrow, winding alleys, criss-crossing tunnels, stone bridges and impressive colonial architecture. The colonial heart of the city was built into the valley of a narrow ravine with most of the residential homes occupying its steep slopes and with an ever expanding network of tunnels underneath, built to ease the traffic in a city originally designed for horses. I am from Georgia, but I have lived in California for the past few years. I have been working as an engineer since I got out of school six years ago. I have grown tired of working the never changing rat race of ‘normal life’, so I am embarking on a multi-year round the world journey, a retirement of sorts, beginning with a winter contract job in Antarctica.
