Today we went on a day trip to Kanchanaburi, about 2-3 hours from Bangkok. First up we visited the War Memorial Cemetery and War Museum before walking across the Bridge over the River Kwae. During WW2 the Japanese used Allied POWs to build a railway linking Burma and Thailand. When the allied forces bombed this crucial bridge the POWs were made to stand on it as a deterrent.
