We took an overnight bus from Porto Alegre, Brasil to Montevideo, Uruguay. It is unusual, but we had the unfortunate luck to go through intensive customs. No rubber gloves, but they woke everybody up, unloaded the baggage and made us get in line for a search. Uruguay gets mixed reviews, but I thought it was great.
