Songkran: our new favorite holiday!

I had planned this trip so that we would be in Chiang Mai for Songkran (the Thai New Year.) Chiang Mai is apparently the place to be for Songkran, much like New Orleans is the place to be for Mardi Gras or New York is the place to be for New Year’s Eve.
