We set out from Santa Maria on 4th October, deciding to take the coastal route up towards San Francisco. We were soon in sight of the Pacific - it was good to see the shoreline again (I’m definitely not an inland sort of person), but we decided against a morning dip since the weather was chilly and quite windy.
