The road to San Francisco

We set out from Santa Maria on 4th October, deciding to take the coastal route up towards San Francisco. We were soon in sight of the Pacific - it was good to see the shoreline again (I’m definitely not an inland sort of person), but we decided against a morning dip since the weather was chilly and quite windy. Autumn (The Fall) had definitely arrived. The road was scenic and we had a good drive - we even stopped at a quaint little gas station and coffee bar for a mid morning hot-chocolate and espresso (the UK telephone box didn’t work though!) We stayed the night at Half Moon Bay, so the next day we had just a short drive to skirt through San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge.
