This isn't the oldest one. It may have been one built out of pieces of pyramids to honor the poverty of the area.

Susie, Amy and I took an expensive (grin - it was less than $7 US) tour of Merida by tour bus and it was a wonderful adventure. So very much history here in this very old city.
