Lyric Opera of Chicago

There is a funny story behind this building. There was once a very rich man whose wife wanted to be an opera singer. Nobody would hire her because apparently she wasn't very good. So, her rich husband built this opera house for her to sing in. The top of the building is shaped like a high back chair. This was meant to be a symbolic gesture, the man was turning his back to the people who would not employ his wife.
