Pichincha tradition once dcitated that the head of an enemy would be shrunk and put on a pole in the centre of the village as a warning to others. The process involved cutting the head off the enemy, removing all the bones and put it in a pot of boiling ingredients for it to shrink. this head is 150 yrs old.
