We decided to wake early and go for an early morning drive right wehn the gates open, figuring that we might see some cats out before it got too hot. We were right. About 8am we came upon a male lion lying down about 50 feet from the road. I was able to get quite a few pictures of him, including when he yawned and scratched himself.
