If you have issues with good raw fish dishes, then just hit delete. For those of you who enjoy sashimi and sushi and ceviche... this is a recipe you do not want to lose! Enjoy!

Poisson Cru a la Tahitienne

1 lb+ trimmed fresh sushi-quality Tuna loin, cut into 2 cm cubes
1 cup diced tomatoes
2 cups peeled, seeded and diced cucumber
1/2 cup finely diced onion
1/4 cup minced spring onion
juice of 2 limes
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp minced ginger
2 1/2 cups coconut milk
Salt and Pepper

shredded carrot (optional)

Traditional Poisson Cru is not like ceviche... the fish is dressed and not marinated. Put the can of coconut milk or fresh coco milk if you have it in the fridge to chill before you put it all together.

Soak the cubed fish in salted water or fresh seawater for 5 minutes (firms the fish)
Meanwhile, mix the diced tomato, cucumber, onion and spring onion together in a bowl
Drain the fish cubes and fold them in, mixing the ingredients together well. Add Salt and Pepper
Refrigerate until well chilled

15 min before serving add lime juice
Just before serving, stir through the cold coconut milk.

One family we met: The wife liked to marinate it all together with the lime included to 'cook' it in the citrus for most of the day before serving, where her husband did this recipe where he added the lime right before it was served and both added coconut milk right as they served it. Both are great.. just depends on the texture you like,,, more cooked with the lime or not. Traditional version is as written above... mmmmmm!!!!

Eat alone or with a side of rice.
