For those that are not aware, the Kokoda track is where the Australian forces , supported by local Papuans, referred to as "the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels", stopped and pushed back the Japanese forces who were advancing on Port Moresby, which would have given them the launching pad to attack Australia. The track is only about 100kms long, but is harsh, muddy, wet and very undulating. Thankfully we had local porters who carried our backpacks and gear, mine porter wore thongs ... read more

(maybe because I'm more like a tourist and they're hoping to sell me something) ;-) Gumine is a lot like the garden of Eden and I would just as quickly move there if my own life were in order. I would stay with my "wantok". (adopted family) There are really not a lot of words to describe the things I've seen and heard. I've learned quite a bit of Pidgin and can understand it readily yet cannot speak it much. Other than what I've written all I can say is WOW. I have photos, ... read more

Hey there friends and family! Sorry for the lack of communication. Tony and Tasha do not live in the same complex so their phone hookup took place today! We have hit the ground running after arriving Friday pm. Saturday 7am 6mile prayer walk around the city of Moresby and singing songs at Ella Beach. Off to the Highlands the next morning and waking up to the kakaruks at 4am. The single girls and I stayed with Petros and Pauline. We have dubbed this trip "the Lord will provide". So whatever we didn't pack or ran out of we were faithful and everyone there was generous with their food. Please continue to pray for our safe return and abundant fruit to be harvested even after we leave. Love to you Bruce my number 1 husband and to ... read more
