The South Island of New Zealand is a big contrast to the North. Everything is much farther apart and spread out. The scenery is startlingly beautiful and the roads are empty (apart from cops with speed cameras... Guy had a run-in with NZ's finest and it cost us a day's budget!

We spent our days driving around and our nights under canvas, with the odd splurge on a real bed once in a while!
