Good day to let the feet recover, wash the tramp out of my clothing, do some planning and generally not do much else.

Ahh that's why the feet hurt
You know Tak; if you will carry a tramp in your feet, of all places, you've just got to expect that they start to hurt. Either that or get a bigger set of boots that cover the tramp as well! Stands to reason :-)
