Hi, It's my turn again, look out for spellings, past and present tense and grammar.
The next leg of our journey was taking us to Te Anau as this is approx half way between Queenstown and Milford Sound.
I had read in the travel books that the quietest and most peaceful time to be on the Sound was very early in the morning or late in the afternoon, thus missing all the coaches that arrive around lunch time.So early morning it is then, hence the stop at Te Anau.
Two hours after leaving Queenstown we arrive at the beautiful and peaceful Lake Te Anau.
Lake Te Anau is New Zealand's second largest lake after Taupo, it is 53 km long and 10km across at it's widest part.
Having arrived at Te Anau we went straight to the "I" Site and booked the 9am cruise for the next day, Feb 14th (who said i am not romantic). The downside to this is we had to be on the road at 6am, as we were informed that the journey could take two and a half hours because of road conditions, and this was to travel only approx 75 miles.
It did in fact only take 1.45 hours
The rest of our time in Te Anau consisted of a walk along the lake (not 53km), reading our books in the sunshine with a bottle of red and a roast lamb dinner......HAPPY DAYS!
Whilst we have been travelling we have met a fellow Englishman who asked, "How can you describe this country to your friends back home",after lots of adjectives we all decided that it is impossible to put into words such beauty, so having said that i am giving John the un enviable task of writing the blog on Milford Sound.
