Woke up at 6:30am for our whitewater rafting excursion. The scariest part about this excursion was the drive to the canyon where we rode in a dodgy van on a windy -cliffside trail. Everyone was scared we were going to drive off the mountain. We got all geared up and into our boat. I picked the front of the boat as the rest of the girls were quite scared so I didn’t care. I got really wet though and the water was freezing cold! We had to practice a bunch of paddling techniques and went through a ton of crazy rapids. At one point, there was a dark tunnel we went through and I had to be the only paddler (next to our guide who steered) us through the tunnel. I liked that part! It was exciting to know I was in control of our fate! Got back to the lodge, got warm and had a celebratory beer with our group! The afternoon was free for more optionals or free time to explore Queenstown. Majority of the group stayed in town and did some shopping and lunch at a burger place but I decided to take it easy, fend off my Contiki cough and rest up for the next few days! We had a Jacuzzi tub at the hotel, jumped in there and headed back to my room for a quick nap. Again, Murrays orders to meet at the hotel bar for some drinks, then they took us out to an amazing pizza place called “Winnie’s.” A Canadian guy owned the place and he came over chatted to our group then sent us all gourmet pizzas of all kinds to try! It was amazing! Everyone was so happy with the food and beer so the whole group ended up staying the majority of the night at Winnie’s playing pool, chatting and having drinks. We then headed back to the Buffalo Club again as we knew it was a reliable place to have some sort of drink special on! The first night we were there it was called “Hooters for Shooters” night and we all got 2 for 1 price on drinks. Free shots if you show them hooters I guess…this night it was “Ginga Night!” If you were red-head, guy, girl you got a $50 bar tab. Too funny. Amanda who had dyed her hair brunette was really trying to prove with photo ID and all that she was a natural Ginga but it didn’t happen. We all had a few drinks there and had fun singing 90’s rock tunes but still that was our latest night out and it was only 10pm when we left the bar. In bed by 10:30pm
