It's coming up roses in Christchurch but I'm going to...
I GOT THE JOB!

I'll have to splurge on that transceiver, but hopefully it will be worth it. He're the job descriptions, but basically it sounds like I might be a slave.

POSITION: Full Time Ski Instructor/General Hand

Duration of Work: Middle of June- Mid September (weather permitting)

Compensation: Daily Rate + Free Ski Pass

Room and Board: You will be provided with accomodation on

mountain plus meals and snacks. $50 per week will be taken out of your pay for Room and Board.

Specific Duties Include but are not limited to:



1. To provide ski and/or snowboard instruction, as demand dictates, to the club’s ski holiday clients within a club field atmosphere.

2. Facilitate the activities of the Broken River Youth Development Team on weekends and holidays

3. Ensure that lessons are available at set times for group and private clients on a daily basis.

4. To provide assistance and technical input to the Club Captain in the organisation of Club events (eg setting and timing

5. Assist the Patrol in opening the lifts and terrain as directed by the Patrol.

6. To assist with General duties (eg. Shovelling snow, washing dishes and cleaning)

7. Assist in the Ticket Office and Canteen (eg running the Goods Lift, selling lift tickets, taking bookings, handling money etc)


Oh, but, I'll also have to miss the first week of university. Sorry Mom and Dad, but this sounds like the best opportunity in a lifetime. Actually, better than that, probably in many lifetimes.

Well, I only hope that I can do my job well!

I start in three weeks. Time to see a bit of New Zealand!
