Johan dropped me off at the bus terminal and I took the link bus to Rotorua, where I had to wait 3 hours for the bus to Wellington. I walked around town and got some snacks for the road.
A lot of things have been happening in me and one of the biggest things is the fact that I truly, utterly love Vicky. Being in NZ and exploring the country and finding myself is amazing, but I want her by my side, traveling with me, experiencing everything with me. I finally had the guts to tell her this and to commit to her, from underneath a big tree in the Rotorua, 12000km away. I love you baby!
In high spirits, I boarded the bus to Wellington. The drive down was great, I had two seats to myself for most of the way and could sit rather comfortably. I fell asleep on the first leg of the journey and only woke up as we stopped at lake Taupo. The lake is huge and I sadly missed most of it.
The rest of the journey was filled with stunning scenery, forests, snowcapped mountains and plains. Everything is
green and beautiful. New Zealand really looks like the photos in the guidebooks, internet and postcards!
I arrived in Wellington at around 20:00, the city is really beautiful. As we drove in you see the harbour and the skyscrapers... he he he, lets rather say a couple of tall-ish buildings.
Lize met me at the train station and took me to TVNZ, where she works, and introduced me to some of her co-workers.
We picked up Clive from his office and set of to nr 4 Butt Street (Not a joke!) At the door we were greeted by Tululah the cutest cat ever! Well, almost ever, I still love all y’all kitties at home!

I met Lize's mom & dad, Johan and Estelle today; we had lunch and a Tui. I spent the rest of the day relaxing on the couch, watching Fifth Element with Lulu (Tululah). It was so great to watch a movie again!
Tomorrow I'm heading to El Rancho for the meeting with Rodney, I'm sure I'll get the job, I’m exited, yet nervous! God will provide!
I'm starting to feel comfortable and at home in NZ. It feels
like I make my home wherever I am and wherever I find good people.

I caught the bus to town, the train to Paraparaumu, yes it is a real place! Caught another bus to Waikanae and walked the last kilometer to El Rancho.
I had a meeting with Rodney and got the job, start 2nd of January! I get my own little flat with a kitchen, bathroom & TV. I can't wait! In my Journal the verse for the day struck me as quite poetic:
"In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
- Romans 8:28
I headed back to town and dinner with Lize's family, Maryke & Jean (her sisters), Johan and Estelle, in Lower Hut. Johan grilled us some lamb, boerie, chicken & veggie kebabs on a wood fire, while Estelle made potatoes, pasta salad and some amazing desserts!
Stuffed from the feast we moved on to presents, I received tons of chocolates from everyone & felt bad that I didn't get anyone any gifts.

I'm sitting on my bed; it's a cold, wet Christmas morning
in New Zealand. I'm filled with gratitude and appreciation, our Lord came down from heaven to be with us as a human being. Limiting Himself, knowing full well the fate He would suffer at the hands of men. But He came anyway, that is how much He loves us. That is sacrifice! It hit me so hard today, more than I can describe here in words, how much God loves us!
We had a typical SA Christmas lunch with Lize's family’s friends in Masterton. Ham, turkey, salads, potatoe salad etc. It was so good!
Friday, 26-28th
I'm in holiday mode again, being with people I know, eating, drinking, watching DVDs, playing XBOX and being lazy. It's great to stop and relax for a bit.
Clive & Lize are really awesome hosts, they spoil me rotten and refuse that I pay for anything! Thanx for taking me in and giving me a taste of home, I owe you so much! You ROCK!
