Saturday 15th March, I did a much needed clothes wash, kept fingers crossed that the weekend tomato pickers in Rae and Gray's tomato crop, didn't make off with my Top Shop favourites and headed into Hamilton for a bit of shopping and lunch with Todd and Tina. Nice dinner in the evening at Rae and Gray's.
Sunday 16th March, we drove about an hour west to the coastal town of Raglan for shopping, strolling and lunch with Rebecca and Liam. Gorgeous shops, I treated myself to a Kia Ora tee-shirt (NZ for hello) and silver/shell koru shapped earrings, the swirly pattern, as in a wave or the swirl inside a fern, can be found on a lot of NZ arts and crafts and signifies new beginnings etc. As you can see, the beach/sea was stunning! Several surfers taking advantage of the not-so crowded waves. If this was in the UK on a sunny sunday you would not be able to move for the sheer weight of people, let alone get parked in such a lovely spot, I guess the 4 million population is spoilt for choice, so gives everyone a chance to enjoy a view properly. We had dinner at
Tomato Picking
Visitors turn up at Rae and Gray's to pick the tomatoes Rae and Gray's, then I said goodbye to everyone and caught a lift with Todd (thanks Todd) about 2 1/2 hours north to Snell's Beach, on my way further North to the Bay of Islands....
Many thanks to Rae and Gray for their hospitality, it was a lovely stay x x x x
