HELLO!!!!!!!!
Its been a while i know, but we've had such a busy time that the internet was the last thing on our minds. Im dreading writing this blog entry as we've done so much in the week or so since xmas.
we have been sent lots of pics of you all, and you all look so healthy and it is so strange seeing you all. we miss all our friends and family so much and the pics make us smile. Keep them coming. So glad to hear that all of the christmas celebrations went so well and that you all had a good new year together down the Elm. xxxxxx
Our christmas present from Trudie was a meal in the revolving restaurant up the sky tower in Auckland. The day was lovely, and the meal was unreal. Lovely food, and great views. On xmas eve we had a lovely Barbe, cooked by me, and we even had a water fight. A water fight on christmas eve!!!!!!!!That was a one off experience, ha ha.
CHRISTMAS DAY!!! We were woken up by connor at 6 (which was ok by me, i was up from 5 waiting for the
knock on the van), but he actually woke his mum up at 00.30, saying "santas been mum", ha ha, so he was sent back to bed. He had loads of presents from santa which he loved and he opened them all excitedly. Me and mart also had a few gifts to open at trudies which was nice, they bought us both a cd and sweets and some other bits. then we had all our cards and gifts that the families had sent for us at Kati kati, we loved getting all your cards and nice messages. We had such a nice christmas day. we were overwhelmed really. missed home lots though, although we did not have a second to think of home, before we went to bed we had a little talk and said how we missed you all so much. we love getting all the pictures of you all. helen, the one of your christmas dinner was so funny. nice to see everyone looking so healthy and hels the hair looks nice. i cannot believe how much natalies and claires hair has grown too. Are you all walking around on compost or something????????????? ha ha. Any way back to
The sky tower
Lovely meal, with great views what we have been up to. So christmas and boxing day we had lots of drinks and lots of laughs at kati Kati, Brenda and Jim and all the family made us feel very welcome. On boxing day we just chilled out at the farm. You can see in the picture how nice it is and the type of view they have, you just find yourself sat on the deck looking out and just so content with life, its great. We went down the farm and did some target shooting. guns are legal here, (with a permit) and Jim has them for hunting etc, so we adults went down to shoot at some targets and have a little comp. well guess what, I was great, i was so nervous to be shooting the gun, but they all could not believe how good i was. mart came in last. ha ha ha. On the video attached i was shooting a shot gun and the noise and strength of the gun is not even funny. I was great with the 202 gun with the sight, but when i fired the shotgun, i completely missed the target, and blow a hole in the
rock that the target was on, ha ha ha. I was deaf for ages after and my ears were ringing. By the way how much of a janner do i sound like. they all take the mic of how we talk!!!!
The day after boxing day mart went hunting. proper hunting out in the bush with a gun. i did not go i knew that i could not cope with walking for so long in the bush. They were out for hours and came back with a massive stag. we are not gonna attach any pics as they are graphic and we do not want any anilmal rights people giving us grief. he really enjoyed it and said he was so glad to experience it. Jim who he went with is a legend and they had fun getting lost in the buch together!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said it was so exciting when the dogs caught the dear, and Mart and Jim had to sprint through the bush to find the dogs and dear. And there it was, already dead in a creak, a huge stag. The dogs do bite the stag, but they mostly die from shock, so when they caught
christmas day
this is everyone of us in total. lot of grub and fun up to it, it was already dead.
we set off after all this for our little week away camping with trudie and connor. this was very nice, we were lucky to have the weather we did. sunny and very hot every day of the week. we have a bit of our tan back. we went all around the corromandel. It was so pretty and just breathtaking. some amazing views. me and mart just never stop smiling and enjoying it all. It was nice to visit all the beaches and to play in the waves with connor. The sea tempurature is better than in England, and Mart and Connor were in the water for hours at a time with no wetsuit. We had a lovely week with them, and for new years eve me and soph left them for the night to go partying in a town called Whangamata. It was on the beach, and had a real chilled out vibe, and was similar to newquay. We started drinking on the campsite at 6, and soon got talking to loads of people, as everyone was sat out in the sun drinking. We met loads of people and all sat drinking
their house where we spent christmas
how lush is this, wait to you see the view they have together, until 10.30, when a few of us went into town, to a few bars. We actually spent new year (midnight) on the street with 14 English people, all singing "old lands eye", if thats how you spell it. We then went back to some more bars, where they had bands playing etc. We had a great night, and it was nice to meet loads of people and got out and get well drunk!!!!!! We then met T&C the next day for brunch, and had a huge fry up. lovely. After a week away we returned to KatiKati for two nights, before returning to Auckland yesterday. (7 jan). In KatiKati, i(mart) went fishing with james and connor. We went out in James' boat, and had a great after noon. We had loads of bites, but james said they must have been stingrays, or sharks as they kept snapping our lines, but adventually i reeled in a snapper, as shown in the photo. It was another first for me, and i loved it. Its been great to experience these different things, and im thankful to jim and james for taking me hunting, fishing, shooting etc.
we are really looking forward
to the south island now and also our kings concert on sat which will be another heavy night on the beer and wine and a good one we hope. we are gonna have tea over in the city on the harbour and have some drinks and then off to the concert and check out the nightlife after in Auckland.
well what is next. We are leaving on monday for the south island and we have six weeks left in NZ. how scary, where is the time going. Soon we'll be in OZ, and that is the half way mark (oh my god). well i think it will be best if you just look at the pics and then we can update the blog more regularly and keep you posted on what we have been up to. The van is still ledge, we never want to sell it. ,mart is gonna do one up when we get home, as we want to see more of our own country when we get back, and we would like to have long weekends in the campervan.
Sorry its been so long, and im sure we've missed out loads of info, but its
us shooting
mart came in last!!!!!!! hard to remember and write every detail. All you need to know is that we had a great christmas and new year, and holiday with our nz family. Missed you all over the festive season, and glad everyones ok. Keep the e.mails coming.
love mart and soph xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
