Bay of Plenty - Just one day here really a place to lay our heads for the night but we liked it alot, really pretty little town and nice beaches!

Matamata - We stopped off on our way north to a small town called Matamata, the home of Lord of the Rings set. There was a tour you could do to see hobitton but not much was left there to be seen from the set and it was quite expensive so insead we had a coffee in town took a few pictures and headed on our way.

Bay of Islands - We spent 4 days here and got lucky with the weather as well, so nice sunny days to see this pretty part of the north island with! One of the days was spent to a boat cruise out to see the islands and also to see the dolphins. Dave got to swim with them as well, I was going to but chickened out just before I got in the water as you needed to be a very strong swimmer to chase them and Im not so I thought Id stay on the boat and watch

Was like a boy with a toy!instead! But another amazing time seeing these stunning creatures! Dave loved his swim with them although it was hard work and quite cold! These dolphins where of the bottle nose type and much bigger than the Dusky dolphins I saw in Kaikoura. We also got to see some seals and a quick look at a swimming penguin! Great day out!

This blogs short and sweet as time is a little short online. We are now into our last few days in New Zealand, in the big city of Auckland, so will update another blog soon and sum up New Zealand for you.

Take care El x
