We have arrived in another new country for us. Auckland is a city of 1.3 million. The temperature is definitely cooler than French Polynesia. We have rented a nice apartment on the waterfront with a great view of Auckland Harbour Bridge. We spent one day wandering around the beautiful city. There are many parks and old building facades to admire. Another day we visited Rangitoto Island which is 25 minute ferry ride from Auckland. Rangitoto has a unique volcanic landscape. We hiked up to the volcano and around the crater and enjoyed the panoramic view. I would love to see more of New Zealand, but we are now off to Syndey, Australia. It seems weird to be hearing english spoken again.
