Pat flew out on Wednesday April the 5th and I headed on to another fun-filled experience of wwoofing.Earthsong is a co-housing community located in the district of Ranui, within the city limits. Cars are parked along the entrance into the neighbourhood, freeing up the land for rain absorption and leaving a smaller footprint. Water is collected from the rooftops and stored in the cylinders. These will be planted over to make a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Newly completed, this is a multi-purpose building with large kitchen and area for dining, having meetings, another large upper room with a carpet used for yoga and I do my running stretches there, and a spare room for guests, common laundry and washrooms.

The last eight units are being built, bringing the total to 32 units. Some are two bedroom, some three and some four, using the same design with optional rooms added or not.

Some windows completed Tuesday (today). The walls will be blasted later, then oiling comes next.

are considered private. The kitchens all look out on the public side, since many people spend alot of time there. Plantings are made to delineate the private areas in the back spaces and for screening.

In New Zealand, it's easy to have the plants go wild!

have lofts. The four-bedroom units have two stories and I have seen a loft in one of these as well.

The torch was used to weed the planted rows.

Normally this time of year it starts getting cold and the weeds die off. This year it is warmer, and there has been lots of rain lately. In the distance, grapes covered with nets. For eating, not wine making.

The next crop getting ready for planting. Of course, in New Zealand you can plant things year round.

Lynette and Chris live on the main path from the car park to the rest of the community.

popped in to lend a hand with the work. She ended up gardening while we continued with the windows. Lunchtime.

Chris entered a Junk Art competition put on each year by a local gallery. This was from a few years ago.
