After an awesome night, Nephi and I did a 5 K run along the beach around the island home. Nephi really pushed me to get up the hills. It was tough but I managed to make it!
After breakfast, we headed into the island and made a stop at some picturesque views and to Stony Batter Historic Reserve. Stony Batter was an old WW II defense center. We walked along a dirt road, passing many olive and grape trees, cow and sheep patties and huge boulders. At the top of the hill, there was an old gunnery hole and an amazing view of the island from above. You could see a peninsula of the North Island and the beautiful blue-green ocean water. Choice man!!! (This is cool in Kiwi).
After the Batter, Jared drove us down a windy dirt road which was making Nephi a bit scared. Nephi and I started belting out tunes from One Republic, Alicia Keys, Colby Calliat...it was so much fun! Check out one our videos while we were going down the road. Notice the sheep along side and our way out of tune voices!
Our final destination was Rock Passage Vineyard and Cafe.
Us with our Kiwi Friends
" I Love New Zealand", quoted by Nelson Rock Passage was noted to have the "Best Pizza on the Planet" by the New York Times and was also voted "Waiheke's most charming cellar door" by Australian Gourmet Traveler. And by the Boston critiques of America, we would have to say 5 stars plus!!! This place was unique, relaxing and extremely delicious!!
During our lunch, we sipped a Viognier which was superb. Our meals were both colorful and top-quality. Nephi and I had the wonderful chicken salad mix; one I will never forget. Stephen and the gang had the gourmet pizzas: slamon & capers, lamb and vegetable. The dessert was so sweet! Check out the pictures of our world-class menu of foods!! This is a definite place to visit if you are ever in New Zealand!!

After lunch, we headed back to house to pack and we headed to the port to catch the ferry back to the city of Auckland. We made our good byes and headed across the ocean bay. The ferry ride was quick only 35 minutes and I taped our "Good-bye Waiheke Island Video" (Check it out below by pressing movie icon.)
As we reached the city of Auckland ("City
of Sails"), we returned to Jared's home to pick up our luggage. While on the island, everyone recommended we drive to Rotoura to see amazing scenes, hot springs and stay overnight. So we took a detour on our itinerary and changed our flight to Christschurch on Wednesday.
So we checked in to The Westin for tonight and enjoyed our relaxing suite. Only the best!! LOL The Westin is located is located near the harbor next to chic apartments and huge yachts. Jared was so kind to lend us his extra car for the 2 days for our adventure! Choice Bro!! Tonight, we walked into the city and had some dinner and returned to rest up for our big travel day to the city of Rotoura.
Special Thank you again to Karen, Jared, Michelle and Nephi. We had an unbelievable time with you guys and look forward to all your suggestions as we travel through to Rotoura.
I LOVE NEW ZEALAND!!!!! A MUST VISIT FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! If I could I would move here...why aren't there Nurse Anesthetists here???
