Su left the in my room today :) In Dwellingup...
So today I woke up at 6am to head to the markets with Su. I was super stoked. We went to the car park where the locals were having a "garage sale", which is basically that, except it's out of their cars instead of their homes. It was fun. I saw some interesting things. I saw a few gifts I would have LOVED to get people, but I have to remember that I have to get them home in suitcases. I did get a couple gifts, though.
Su found a very unique table for $30AUD and I loved it. I should've taken a photo, because I can't describe it well. Anyhow, after that we left to head to a bigger market which was similar to the sale barns in Hillsdale or at the fairgrounds. That's where she gets all her produce for the week. It was so huge. I really wanted to stay awhile and check things out, but we were in a hurry to be home by 9:30 because that's when I was supposed to get picked up for the Footy game.
So, we rush home and I eat some Brekky real fast and wait

From Su's Garden for Ben to pick me up. Around 945 he calls and says he's running late. No worries. He called me a few more times because they were a few fellas short and what not and long story short, I don't get picked up until noon-time. We head out on what seemed to be a two-hour drive, however... I saw my first bunch of kangaroos! I didn't have my camera out, but I did see a TON. A few minutes after I saw them, there was a dead one on the side of the road. 😞
They really are like deer.
So, anyway. I'm glad Ben took the back roads because I got to finally see the bush and some wildlife and country. I honestly have been bumming about living in the city. After awhile every city looks the same. Ben had some good ideas about places to hike, a few of which are near his house. So that was really awesome. I rode with him, Kieran and Andy from the Footy team. They were all so welcoming and friendly, as usual.
We finally make it to the Footy oval and I meet the rest of the team

From down the street at the park I hadn't met the previous practice. I was told this team we were playing was going to crush us. ("They're stocked up on Aboriginals and they just kill anyone they play at home, but when they travel the Aboriginals don't come and they lose"). Well, at the half we were only down by 11. But we ended up losing by over 25, I believe. It was a shame. But a success for me because I understand the game more. I understand scoring and what not, and to be honest, I don't think there are many rules. So, it was good. Only a few minor injuries and one somewhat serious strain. Nothing major. Very nice fellas. I think I made my first friends ("awwwww"), haha.
So, after the game, I kid you not, a handful of the boys pulled out beers from their cars and started drinking. It was priceless. The beers were so hot. Anyhow, after they all settled down and finished talking about the game, my car headed out. On the radio the Freo wafful team (think Minor league Footy) was entering the last quarter of the game so we stopped off at a pub to watch the
end of it. I got a Chuck Draught (?) beer along with the boys. I liked it. And they were impressed that I drank beer. Haha, it was funny. But a beer cost 6.50 here! I thought that was steep, and when they asked about our beer and I told them on a good night you could get a pitcher for 3.50 I thought they were going to piss themselves. It was hilarious. Anyway, their team lost. Another bummer for them. I caught some Rugby finally, and it looked like there were no rules or organization at all, just insanity and running and tackling. And in Aussie, no one wears protective equipment. I'd say that makes our football players look a little weak.
Anyway, that pretty much summed up my day. It was a good way to spend a Sunday. And when I got home Su was just getting ready to serve dinner so that was a perfect way to top off my evening.
Life is definitely getting easier here. I'm feeling adjusted and more settled in. I think today helped because I got to know a lot of the fellas better and they've said that "Now
you're a part of the team! You have to come out with us Thursday and get pissed!". Haha. So, I think they like me. Which is good. Because let's be honest, I was going to go nuts if another weekend went by without doing anything in the evenings.
I miss all of you at home, as always.
Still waiting for that first bit of mail... **hint hint**
See you in ONLY SEVEN weeks.
Love
Megan

Fun
I would love to watch a "footy" game. I think not wearing protective gear isn't a tough thing maybe it means they aren't as smart as we Americans are. j/k Thanks for putting up pics of plant life I love them. Keep on having fun it will only get better. love Momma
