April, OnslowOcean View Caravan ParkCost $39 pensioner discount per night Rated by us 8/10Mileage 16415 travelled 0Our camp site backs directly onto the ocean and the view and breeze are amazing. Unfortunately as we are now into the heavy industrial part of the WA coastline the water is a murky brown and the sand is now more like mud flats, you can see in the water the mud has silted up forming dangerous banks. A number of people are here with small fishing boats so it must be good out in the water, I noticed lots of them out late in the afternoon.Not much to see here but a good spot to rest up.We did find just very near to our camp site a beautiful war memorial made in the shape of the Rising sun emblem the forces have on their slouch hats. Apparently it is positioned so that the rising sun on the 25
th
April, Anzac Day shines through the arch of the emblem, we managed to get a few shots of the setting sun doing the same thing. On a walk down the very pleasant foreshore we found a sculpture called Paparazzi Dogs, it is four people with dogs heads looking out to sea waiting to capture the Stairway to The Moon phenomena which is famous on this coats line. It was all black and a bit strange but interesting none the less.Very relaxing day but getting hot so we set up the air con for the night, it really worked well with a few tweaks and a heap of gaffer tape to seal the door, but we cooled the van to a pleasant 25% and had a great nights sleep. A win for G after the mess up with the batteries and solar not hacking the power.
