The unsealed roads in the outback are rocky and brutal

A relaxing start to the day with a quick visit into the town centre. Tom Price is another mining town and everything here seems very expensive. Not much to see, so we bought a few things from Coles and commenced our journey to Exmouth. This trip involved a bit more gravel road and a really hot day. In the afternoon, the weather changed and it began to rain heavily, followed by the odd thunder and lightning. As the bad weather passed, we encountered the aftermath of a bushfire, with the occasional spot fires still burning. When we arrived at the main highway heading south, there was a ranger blocking access. The highway to Tom Price was closed due to the bushfires and the ranger wanted to know how we were on the road when it was meant to be closed to traffic from Tom Price. We were just lucky to get through before the road closure, otherwise we would have been stuck in Tom Price for a while. Anyway, we stopped at a campsite just before the turnoff to Exmouth.
