on the Barbie Darren and Mark once these posers have moved!
It felt as though we’d been in the air for ages, but at 1:45am local time we landed at Perth International, with it 23 degrees outside!

Still very confused and for the duration of the day didn't know the time, day or date!

I hadn’t managed to book a hotel and given it’s mid-summer, we didn’t have much luck finding one at the info point. So we put the bags in left luggage and headed into Perth to watch the sun rise and wander round the city whilst it slept.

By 8:30am we were in a taxi off to see Celia (friend of Sars from Uni), Darren and Isobel. The drive to their place took us into Swan Valley and past numerous vineyards - all this less than 30 mins from the centre of Perth.

As we drew up to their fantastic house we were met by Celia, Isobel and Ruth the dog. It was great to see them and in spite of the lack of sleep, we had a good catch-up and generally felt ok.

Their house and its location is great and we’re really lucky to have been able to stay there for a

few days - thanks guys!

That afternoon Darren came back from work and we had a few beers before some of Darren’s relatives came over for a barbie - fantastic on our first night in Oz! A few MBs, Snaggs and some chops - bonza!

Unfortunately the beer and lack of sleep saw me make an early exit at 10:00pm (although Sars followed shortly after once England had beaten Australia in the first final!)

A great intro to Oz, super to see Celia, Darren and Isobel and we both fell asleep hoping the rest of the adventure would be this good...

Hostess notes
Guys, it was so good having you over here. Thank you again for coming to visit. After you left in the taxi I had a few tears and then all the next day too. Having such great friends over reminds me of what I am missing. My heart just melts at how Isobel took such a shine to you both. I brought her up to look at the blog today and she giggled when we got to your photo. She slept ALOT today, you tired her out so. Well I shall go and look forward to your antics to come. Love you
