Saturday 22nd April Having packed and loaded most of the stuff yesterday we awoke excited with only a few jobs to complete and of course still to pack Graeme's clothes.
We finally hit the road at 9.30am not bad considering we had been up and busy since 6am.
We have elected not to drive more than 300kms per day so today was at the limit of what we wanted but the weather was fine, and we were full of excitment, even the dog was racing around knowing something was happening. We have elected to have him travel in his crate in the back of the UTE, with many stops and short days we reckon he will be fine. First stop Toodyay for coffee and to exercise and check on Tippy he usually needs a
toilet break after his breakfast. We had coffee sitting outside the cafe and Tippy was spoilt by so many passers-by, he had fun, he was happy to go back into his crate to continue on the way. Lunch was a parking bay on the roadside, I made sandwiches, and we ate stood up trying to get some blood back in our legs, the dog was so excited I think he is in sensory overload with all the new smells. The roadside was littered with an amazing number of Banksias all in full bloom and an assortment of colours, they seemed to be growing on trees some as high as five meters, I have only ever seen them on bushes before, they were amazing, got some great photos. The new Ranger is towing the caravan a lot easier than the old one and so far, Graeme is really pleased with it all, the nice touches in the new Ranger have made his days a lot easier and not so stressful. You tell the Ranger the details of your trailer (caravan) and it tells the vehicle how to break the trailer and keep things a lot more stable, looks great so far,
after all the work Graeme has done on the van, I am so pleased for him.
Arrived at Leeman Caravan Park, about 45kms north of Jurien Bay on the coast, at about 2.30pm nice timing. The park is pretty basic and old, it would certainly benefit from some TLC and some maintenance, but it has all we need. We have unfortunately managed to get a site next to a young German couple who have two noticeably young children both under 18 months, the youngest only a few months old, it made for a couple of interesting evenings, although we did not hear then during the night which is good. Tippy was so tired he asked to go to bed, we put a rug over his crate to keep out the cold and he never moved or barked all night, so pleased with him, he is just loving been with us and doing things with us all day. We took an evening stroll down to the beach such as it is, lots of seaweed and not much sand, this is definitely a fisherman’s spot, with lots of small boats at the camp site. The sunset was spectacular, but I had omitted to carry my camera with me, but it is in my private gallery in my head. Restless night I forgot to pack my gel pillow will have to buy one when I can, but it was really quiet on the site which was good.
