The trip from Wave Rock to Kalgoorlie started out very dusty, although a light rain began to fall. By the time we hit the Great Eastern Highway, the rain was quite heavy, but by the time we reached Kalgoorlie, it had stopped for the time being. We stayed for three nights at the Prospector Caravan Park. Temperatures got up to about 30°C and it managed to rain several times while we were there, mostly just lightly although one night it rained quite persistently with a fair bit of thunder about. Thomas' foot is quickly getting better and he's now able to be a bit more mobile.

While in Kalgoorlie, we visited the spectacular Super Pit, Super Pit Shop, Mt Charlotte, Royal Flying Doctor Service, as well as a drive past the brothels in Hay Street., which resulted in an interesting discussion with the kids. We also spent a full day at the Prospector and Mining Hall of Fame where we did an underground tour, watched a gold pour and panned for gold - unfortunately we didn't strike lucky, although Mark managed to find a few specks, which we've kept to go in the journals.
