Time to go Home !!
A great picture of Gypsy, this was a Point Peron Last Year Time to go home, 26th November 2014.
The day had finally arrived 26
th November and it was time for Gypsy to go, I had decided that I would deliver her to the Transport Company (Opelika’s Specialist Transport) in Maddington, as if I did we had control of the situation, that is we were not waiting around for the truck to arrive, nor having the great behemoth of a truck struggle to park etc in the space we had, so even though, it would be taking up my time and fuel I still thought it was the best option.
I had worked this morning, gone home rested as directed then planned my jaunt across town to deliver the the camper, The afternoon was not very pleasant, it was dark and wet with storms promised, but it was all previously agreed, she had to be delivered today and Ingrid at the transport company was expecting me to deliver.
Everything was now packed away, wrapped where required and all locked up, a set of keys had already been posted to the new owners in Canberra, for security reasons and the second set would be left with the van.

At Openica Logistics I arrived at just after 4.00 PM and the transport yard was busy, there was a large forklift that had a tow-ball attached to one of its tines that was manoeuvring several boats around on their trailers, parking them for loading and as I slowly drove in Ingrid directed me to where she wanted me to park Gypsy, right next to a brand new trailer.
I did as I was directed and pulled along side the B Double and got out and greeted Ingrid, we exchanged pleasantries and I asked if this was the trailer that Gypsy would be going on and indeed it was, I am so glad it was nice and new and not some shitty old trailer, at least Gypsy could enjoy her 4000 Kilometre trip aloft something nice.
Their was also a brand new M.A.N tractor unit in the yard and I asked Ingrid if that was the prime mover that was going to tow the trailer and it was.
I unhitched Gypsy from the Landcruiser and took the DO35 hitch off the track as this was needed to go with Gypsy also, I had nightmares that I would forget this and wrote

Gypsy parked by the trailer that she was going to be loaded on a post it note and stuck it on my sun visor so I did not forget
The guys in the yard were just lifting a Landcruiser Troopy on to the trailer with a forklift and Ingrid had said that the trucks first stop was Melbourne, which is where the Troopy was coming off and Gypsy would be swapped to a smaller truck as the leg between Melbourne and Canberra has a truck length restriction, so only one 40 ft trailer instead of two that started out in Perth.
A guy came over to admire Gypsy and I asked him if he was the driver and he said he was, I was hoping he might say, do you fancy coming with me, I would not of hesitated, he was leaving early on Thursday Morning.
I asked Ingrid if she wouldn’t mind me taking some photo’s of the truck and trailer, and she said no problems, as I knew I had a blog to write.
I pulled out of the transport yard, happy that she was going to a good home of people who would appreciate her and also happy it was in the very best condition we

This was the Prime Mover, who was taking her home could present her, though sad that we had done some amazing trips with Gypsy.
Maybe there new owners may do a guest blog for us, telling you of Gypsy’s forthcoming adventures.
I hope they Jody and Denis have as much fun in her as we did..

Thanks for the memories ....
Oh dear! - so sad. It must be like saying goodbye to a (not so) old friend. It may be the end of an era but, just remember the good, fun times you have had over the last couple of years, beginning with planning her creation and then all the great times and places that you have visited whilst on the road. She's going to a good home and new owners who will appreciate her. :) Love J & T xxx
