Salt Pool
Left Karratha after getting more food and drove a long way in to Onslow. The salt pools are at the side of the road everywhere. They fill the pools and the sun evaporates the water and the salt is left behind. I got a bit of salt to keep. At Onslow the sun rises over the water and also sets over the water. It is a narrow piece of land with two beaches. One facing East and one facing West. They have a really long jetty with a conveyor belt on it. It takes the salt from the big piles on the land to the ships at the end of the jetty. The ships then take the salt away.

On the way to Exmouth we saw a lot of Variety Club cars. They were all done up to different themes. We saw a Shrek one, a Policeman one, and one with stuffed toys all around the roof rack. They were old cars from the 70’s and 80’s my Dad said.

In Exmouth there was a great pool. It had a waterfall at one side of it, chairs and shade sail on the other side and a ramp to walk

down or swim like we did. At the deep end, it was really deep and my Dad couldn’t even touch the bottom. We went to the lighthouse at sunset and had lunch there one day. It was really windy. We stayed at the caravan park and my swag was on the grass near the path. We had a cute dog called Buddy camped next to us. He was a boxer dog and he snored!

We went to Cape Range National Park where the coral reef is close to the shore. It was very windy when we were there, so we didn’t go swimming only playing on the beach. We also played on the sand dunes - it was fun. Turquoise Bay is a pretty blue beach with nice sand, but very cold. The day before we went to Jansz Beach and swam in the surf. There was an emu in the sand dunes when we parked the car. On the sand the waves crashed and the dead coral and rocks came in and hurt our feet and ankles. When the water went back in so did the dead coral and rocks and hit our feet and ankles again. It

didn’t take long for us to go further into the water away from the rocks.
