With Week One finished already it's pretty hard to believe there are only 7 more weeks before I have to send my class onto bigger and better things.
Of course, weather wise it was a scorching week and during the weekend I honestly felt like I was going to melt. There was no relief despite two consecutive forecasts for rain (now I really do sound like my dad).
Friday night was pizza night at Jila before a free Pigram bother concert at he Spini. It was an earlish night and I was in bed by 12.30am
Saturday I continued to melt and despite trying to get some reports started I failed. Too hot for work was what I told myself. Instead I aimlessly roamed the house and garden looking for cold spots which didn't actually exist.
Saturday night was Spotygras where our local Sportsman's Club held a show-type event to rasie money to buy a new tractor. Each table had to come dressed in a theme and we went as surfers. It was a really fun night and we all got into the spirit of the event. The show was targeted at real Derbyians so lots of their material
went over my head but they had some great ideas.
Around 10.30 the show finished up and within minutes the entire hall was cleared of the 40 odd tables and transformed into a giant dance floor. The Pigrams came back on and played some classic crowd pleasers. The DJ followed them up with some 90's revival hits such as "Everybody on the Floor" and some quality S Club 7.
I'm not sure what time we got home but before I went to bed I had my 5th shower of the day and I can justify everyone of them.
Sunday was much the same as Saturday, hot, hot and hotter.
I don't mean to sund like a bore but sitting through church on Sunday was life suckingly hot. Afterwards, Vegemite and I took a trip out to the long trough near the Prison Tree for a quick dip and to say goodbye to Zara the dog who has found a new home on Blina Station. We hope she has a long and wonderful life.
It's only a four day working week but of course, still so much to do. I'm heading back to Barn Hill for the long weekend
and I have promised myself to be a better report writer than last weekend.
Before I go I am restarting my Term 1 blog habit of composing a Top 10 list for each week. So here we go:
T4W1
1. Seeing Kerry climb onto the table at Sportgras to have her photo taken through the surfer poster.
2. Umbrella straws.
3. Chocolate dipped strawberries, icy poles and mango margaritas
4. Cold showers
5. Lying in the hammock with the sprinklers underneath
6. Making some solid plans for my 30th (umm only 4mths away)
7. Long phone calls with awesome friends
8. Getting Christmas presents sorted thanks to online shopping
9. Having 7 weeks of work left
10. The mango mountain which is steadily increasing in my fridge.
