Day 1 Wilson's Promontory to Bairnsdale

Today the south to north adventure begins! Lovely to be down south, Wilson's Prom is beautiful, but looking forward to some Queensland warmth. It's been COLD getting here! There was frost on our car after our first night on the way to Wilson's Promontory (at Orbost, near the mouth of the Snowy River) which was still there at 10am!
After catching up in Yanakie with friends made on our 2009 Desert Tracks trip, we set off in convoy for our first on-the-road morning tea at Foster, then lunch at Port Albert. On to Bairnsdale, where we stopped for the night. While we were stocking up in the supermarket, we received a note under our windscreen wiper: see photos. I think the writer must have seen a few of us rolling into town and looked at our door stickers (also see photos) to work out where we were going. It was great that someone took the trouble to find a scrap of paper and write that note - thank you!
