Today i did a day tour to Phillip Island, a small island 160 km south of Melbourne city. The island is famous because of its penguin parade!! 😊 I went there with an organised small group (we were 6 people). Our first stop was in a wildlife animal farm, which i did not really like too much...it was like a cheap zoo, where the poor animals where not in the best conditions. We could feed the kangoroos though, and they seemed happy to get our food! 😊 Oh, and it was the first time i saw a devil of tasmania!!! what a horrible animal!! haha it's a mixture between a wild pig, a rat and a cat...i dont really know how i could describe it better!!!

Phillip island is as i said in the south of Melbourne. The landscape on the way is pretty flat, green, with lots of grasslands with nice cows (not as nice as the casa grande de xanceda one's, though...by the way, you cant imagine how i miss a really good yoghurt!!). The population on the island passes from 7000 people in the winter to 40000 during the summer!!

it is not only famous for
Woolamai BeachWoolamai BeachWoolamai Beach

one of Phillip Island most famous surfing beaches
the thousands of little penguins that live there, but also because of its motorcycle Grand Prix circuit...valentino Rossi said some days ago, that this circuit was one of his top 3 in the world!!The island has magnificent beaches, specially to go surfing. The upper part of the east coast is not a surfing place, the sea there was (in general) very calm, because of the Great Barrier Reef). here, the waves are very big again, perfect for surfers. In general this spot is loved by them, because the water is very shallow. Therefore, even if this sea is full of great white sharks, is seems to be very save to surf here (the sharks cannot get too close to the coast). The landscape on the island is also very green and flat...

First we went for a walk on the Woolamai Beach, a great beach, with huge waves and surfers in the water, but extremly windy and very very cold...i was wearing a pullover, a jumper AND a jacket, and i was still freezing...i'm still not used to this change from cairns to here!!! i saw people wearing hats AND glows!! The Nobbies is a group of big rocks where we went afterwards, to see the beginning of the sunset. with some binoculars you could see some seals on the rocks!!! well, i actually couldnt...i noticed during my way up the east coast that i need glasses..i still cant really believe it!!

And afterward we ended in the famous penguin parade. Around a beach you sit on some terraces from which you can see the famous penguins going out of the water and wabble up the beach to their burrows between the bushes. During the high-season you can spot around 2000 penguins going up the beach!! during this time of the year, you see around 500. These penguins used to be called the Fairy penguins. but theis name was changed to "Little penguin" beause of the protests of the gay-community. And they actually are very very small...even smaller than a seagull (gaviota)!! It was forbitten to take pictures duriong their way up the beach, a pity, because they are very very funny!! they come out of the water in groups of 10-15 'man', and start wabbling up the beach, falling all the time on their bellies! they come out in groups for savety reasons, to avoid being eaten

sunshines at the sunset in The Nobbies...it this rockformation you could see seals with binoculars!!
by other animals and bla bla.. It was extremly cold though...But they are so funny, so small!! haha and the way they tried to come out of the water, being hitten by the waves and falling down all the time!! really great!!! as i could take a picture of them, i upload one of the penguins i saw in the St. Kilda's pier...one who confused a bottle of Victoria Bitter (one of OZ's most famous beer) with another penguin 😉

xxx Viky!!
