Warburton I
Gearing up for the ride (Warburton-Lilydale railtrail)lovely sunny conditions !! +I've been living in the magic glow of impending holiday bliss for which has seemed longer than the gestational period of an elephant or an Alpine Black Salamander for that matter!
One proposal (Matt to darling Louise) and 18 months later sees me almost prepared for my first major overseas travel in over 10 years..... (no reflection required - that's way too long! - NZ doesn't count - it's just the 9th state/territory)
* Itinerary established .... tick
* Flights .... tick (paid for in a credit card kind of way)
* Bike rigged & christened.... check
* Training .... started (well I've ridden my bike up & down the hallway a few times)
* Fluent in Spanish ..... si
* Wedding present ..... eerrh
* Frock for wedding .... si
Matt & Louise I can promise you I'll make it to the wedding - I've just got a few things I want to tick off my to do list before I get there:
1. Longhaul flight - Melbourne to London
2. Short stop over in London - say hi to the Rigby element
3. Flight to Barcelona - say hi to the Sanchez element
4. Train
Warburton II
Em & Esther on the Warburton-Lilydale railtrail trip to San Sebastian
5. Bus trip to Pamplona
6. Short cycle on Cabra Loca from Pamplona to Santiago passing Español villages, scenery, monuments, walkers, cyclists (hopefully!), barras Españolas and epicurian delights
7. Flight back to London
8. Do a little bit of shopping.... shoes?
9. Flight to Prague
10. Gad about in the Czech countryside for a few days
11. Buy a hat box
12. Flight back to London
13. Shop a little more .... if I have too... 😊
14. Celebrate a birthday
15. Catch few races at the Henley Veterans regatta
..... then the wedding - yippee!!!
The planning process as a more 'mature' adults sees me enjoying myself immensely & has allowed me to stretch myself in an excel spreadsheet kind of way!
Cabra Loca has been inducted on a few railtrails since being purchased in April, Warburton, Old Beechy, Queenscliff, plus the daily commute into the metropolitan jungle, a few 'agua empapada' trips to downtown Frankston & an aborted mission to Lake Mountain - she's even had to settle for a few indoor trips on the wind trainer when the May weather got a little too challenging for this soft participant.
Old Beechy
Matt & me on the Old Beechy railtrail Easter Saturday - the only sunny moment for the entire day caught on film! Bags are packed, bike is in the Tardis, belly is as nervous as a 5 year old at her first callisthenics performance of "I'm a Little Tea Pot" - hopefully with my considerable years of experience I've got full control of my bladder this time round!
Unfortunately my preferred travelling companions won't be coming with me - Luka my darling boy Bloom & Jeff rest his blessed soul Buckley, you need to get your act into gear (even if it is posthumously Jeffrey!) & have all your music available in MP3 files - I haven't made that brand loyalty leap to iPod yet. Thankfully my reliable cousin Damien Rice will be making the journey, along with the entire Buena Vista Social Club & Jack smooth talking Johnson - so there'll be no lacking in any conversación - even if it is one sided !
This may very well be my last entry! Having been techologically challenged in recent months, with a digital camera and fandangled new mobile phone - I'll be leaving behind all my 20 something friends who have the mental dexterity to work 'these' things out!
So adios amigos, don't expect any photo's from here on in - until I can seat myself back down here at mission control, with a reliable keyboard, harddrive and USB cable!
Adios Amigos - hasta luego !!
