Up early again - our last day on the boat.!'
Down for breakfast at 07:00, but we are told to pack our bags before breakfast and leave them in the library, as the girls will make a start in cleaning the rooms. We did as we were told and packed up and went for breakfast.
The captain sets off while we are eating breakfast, this is the first time we have been eating on the move. This is not a problem as the vessel is unbelievably stable, and we have felt very little movement the whole of the voyage - so Di's fears and the need for sea-sickness pills was unfounded.
We then had to settle our bar tab for the cruise, the wine on the vessel was quite reasonably priced so this is relatively painless. The captain has marked off a chart to show us where we have visited, from starting off at Able Point Marina we have visited:
Tongue Point
LuncheonBay
Blue Pearl Bay
Longford Island
Stonehaven Beach
This has been a great trip and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. This has been helped by the fact that we had a great cabin on the top
deck, had we been below deck I don't think that Di would have enjoyed it as much. Also the number of people on the cruise being only 8, gave us a lot of space to move around and enabled us to get to know the other passengers. We would unreservedly recommend a cruise on the Pacific Sunrise to anyone.
After break fast and bill-settlement we hang around and read etc. As we approach Able Point marina the crew take passenger group photographs with our cameras. And we get to take a group photograph of the crew. The captain and crew invite us all that are in Airlie Beach to join them for a drink at a local bar at 15:00, but unfortunately we will be at Hamilton Island and cannot join them. We landed at able Point marina and say our good-byes to the crew and fellow passengers and we all head off in our various directions.
We called a taxi and headed over to Shute Harbour to get the ferry. We were due to catch the 12:50 ferry but we arrived early and were able to get the earlier 11:10 ferry. We arrive at Hamilton Island marina
and call for a hotel car to pick us up. At the Beach Club Hotel we need to hang around for our room to be ready (just as the last time that we checked in here.)
Eventually we get into our room. Di goes off to get up-to-date with the laundry. I go out to get some munchies and wine. When I get back I make start on the ironing, catching up with the cricket (Can't believe England got beat by Ireland?!?). I tried to book the Yacht Club for dinner but it is fully booked, we end with a 18:30 booking for the Italian Restaurant Romanos. We spent some time on the beach getting the late day sun, It is amazing here you have a nap and when you wake up a waiter has left iced water on the table next to you - I think that they have binoculars and watch you, and when you nod off they sneak up and leave water, If I was here longer I think that I would set-up some trip-wires!
An hotel buggy takes us off to the restaurant, we are seated on the decking overlooking the marina. Di has the pistachio crusted Lamb, and I have the Seafood Tagliatelle with calamari and scallops. -good food. We call for the hotel buggy and make our way back to the hotel, and slob-out and get organised for shipping out tomorrow
